OLYMPIA – Jeff Wilson, senator from Southwest Washington’s 19th Legislative District, will host a town hall in Longview Saturday, April 27.
The meeting is from 10 a.m. to noon at the Lower Columbia College Student Center, 1600 Maple Street in Longview. The event is free and open to the public, and questions and comments are welcome.
Wilson, R-Longview, said he looks forward to discussing the 2024 session and prospects for next year. “This year the people showed how powerful they are, by putting six initiatives before the Legislature and reminding us that government is here to serve the people, not the other way around,” Wilson said. “I call this the ‘Year of the Initiative,’ because these measures changed the way we dealt with many other issues.”
Wilson also will discuss plans for 2025, including programs to combat salmon predation on the Columbia and its tributaries, and the opening moves in an effort to upgrade or replace the aging Lewis and Clark Bridge. “The collapse of the Key Bridge in Baltimore is a wake-up call for Southwest Washington,” Wilson said. “It’s time for us to begin the conversation about building a better bridge.”
